FAQ

Produced by Kaiser

“I was feeling nervous prior to going into EISA. It turned out to be pretty smooth sailing. I didn’t have any issues with pay, taking time off, benefits. I had a good working relationship with my EISA coordinator who was helping looking for jobs that were a good fit for me and emailing me options. She stayed in really good communication and I felt really supported. I did some transitional work in Complex Case Management. They had been asking for social work help for some time and hadn’t gotten an FTE approved but I was able to go help out for some time there and it was a great fit. It took about 6 months for me to find a permanent position that I’m extremely happy in now. EISA definitely felt like a really good option for me. I did need that continuance of benefits and salary so not having to look for another job outside of Kaiser of lose my insurance was really important. It was so seamless. There were some small hiccups but I didn’t feel a huge impact from a financial point of view of benefits- it was there. It meant I didn’t need to panic. It was nice to have that security. I’d definitely recommend it as an option to anyone who wants to stay with Kaiser.”

“EISA is an awesome program. Some of our Social Workers opted to go into EISA and it provides a big sense of relief knowing they will be guaranteed a full year of pay and benefits, even if Kaiser can’t find transitional work for them to do. A couple have been able to find new permanent positions and avoid layoffs. This is what being part of a strong union and the national coalition is all about. This is the union difference in action!”
